General Plan Update
With the adoption of the 2007/2008 Budget, the City Council initiated a process to update the City's General Plan. This process is expected to take at least two years and will involve multiple meetings and public hearings. The Council recruited volunteers to serve on the General Plan Update Steering Committee.
The Committee includes one member of the City Council, one member of the Planning Commission, and a member from respective City standing committees and boards. Meetings of the General Plan Steering Committee are public and will be posted at City Hall.
For more information on the process, the Committee, or the City's General Plan, contact the City's Planning Department at 415-435-3838.

A General Plan is the policy of acceptable land uses in each jurisdiction. Each city and county adopts and updates their General Plan to guide the growth and land development of their community, for both the current period and the long term. The General Plan is the foundation for establishing goals, purposes, zoning and activities allowed on each land parcel to provide compatibility and continuity to the entire region as well as each individual neighborhood.
